The downstream face of a client’s hydroelectric generating station was suspected of gradually moving away from the main structure over time. Various survey points were installed on the structure to determine if any displacement was actually occurring.
The implemented surveying method did not provide the “full picture” of what was happening with the building’s suspect face.
Shield laser scanned the suspect face and was able to effectively quantify which portions of the building were moving. This was further enhanced as Shield performed additional scans at a different time of year to observe the change in the suspected area. This data was provided client who in turn used the information to develop a remediation plan to address the observed displacements.
